Color Codes of Logos
When creating websites it is important to make sure that you are able to access the various color modes to create an accurate website. Sometimes clients do not know their CMYK, RGB hexadecimal, or Pantone color. Download the activity below, it will open in Adobe illustrator.
Using the logos on the worksheet, you will use the eye dropper tool (I) to select and find ALL colors in each logo and then identity the CMYK, RGB, Hexidecimal, and the Pantone color for each. Please use the text tool to create a text box for each line below. Then you will fill the color swatches given with the closest Pantone color for all colors in each logo. To access the Pantone colors:

Color Schemes for Websites
For this activity, you will be using what you learned in the Psychology of Color notes to build color schemes for several different types of business. You may research other existing sites, but you may not repeat any color scheme exactly. Fill in the chart on the worksheet without using cliché colors. You MUST explain why you chose each color and how all the colors make sense for the type of business with supports from the notes.
When you are finished, please turn in the file as Last Name + First Name + Period + Color Schemes into Google Classroom. |

Color Ad Project
Today you will start to refresh you design skills using Adobe Illustrator. You will be creating an ad for social media, you may pick your social media platform, but make sure it is one of the big ones and only for visual display (Example: Twitter or Insta).
You will be creating an ad for social media to advertise COVID safety protocols (think 3 Ws...wear, wash, wait) with the main focus on COLOR. You will need to establish the color scheme category you will be using (thin through the notes we discussed in class). You will need to create the ad and then adjust it with 2 different color schemes to demonstrate how color can make things have a different dynamic based on the colors you chose. You can only use a color scheme once.
Please create 3 art boards in the same file. You will need to SKETCH your design 1st and in color (since this is a color based assignment). Please create 3 art boards in the same file. When you are finished, please turn in the file as Last Name + First Name + Period + Color Ad into Google Classroom.

Fonts have Feelings
Directions: Using the worksheet below, look at the words, you need to find a font for each that more closely matches the “feeling” of the word. You may use fonts already installed, in Adobe Fonts, or you can download these to your computer and install in the Font Book program. Once you have adjust the font, font size, and font color, make sure you convert the text boxes to Outlines (Cmmd + Shift + O) to ensure I can see what you intended the font to look like.
Save your file as Last Name + First Name + Period + Font have Feelings worksheet and and turn in to Google Classroom. |

What the Font?
For this activity, you will find 4 websites that you think make EXCELLENT use of Type and Font in their design. Look for 4 very different types of sites that use a variety of fonts and font styles. Using what you learned in the Typography notes to answer the questions and to explain why you chose each site and how all the fonts make sense for the type of business with supports from the notes.
Please use screen shots of the fonts on the website and https://www.myfonts.com/WhatTheFont/ to help you identify the fonts. You will include the images in the chart as well. When you are finished, please turn in the file as Last Name + First Name + Period + What the Font into Google Classroom. |

Typography Quote Post Project
You will be creating an post for social media using Typography, you may pick your social media platform, but make sure it is one of the big ones and only for visual display (Example: Twitter or Insta). You will determine the size of your post based on social media standard sizes.
You will be creating an design for social media to post a Quote of your choosing. I would strongly suggest finding a quote that creates a good visual in your mind and is short. The main focus of the design will be on TYPOGRAPHY. You will need to create an post created with the majority of the design using FONTs. You will need to use a minimum of 4 fonts that match the sentiment and feel of the quote when used together. Once you have created your first add, you will then recreate the post using fonts that are the opposite of the original design, using all new fonts each time. In addition to using 4+ fonts, each use of the fonts MUST have at minimum 1 change in tracking, line spacing, kerning, Please make sure you are not only adjusting the fonts, but the font sizes, line spacing, tracking, vertical scale, horizontal scale, or character rotation (all found in the Character Panel in Ai). Additionally you need to use some time of effect as well....drop shadow, inner or outer glow, feather, distort and transform, etc.... While you may use some design elements to enhance the type, the Type needs to be the main focus. Each word/part of the quote needs to be designed. Think about what we talked about in our Typography notes and how using different fonts change the feel of a design. Please create 2 art boards in the same file and make sure you Create Outlines of all your Fonts so it will display as you intended me to see it. When you are finished, please turn in the file as Last Name + First Name + Period + Type Post and turn it into Google Classroom. |
