Advanced Studies GRAPHICS Projects
Personal Branding Logos
Scales' personal logo
|
1st Project!! Welcome to T&I Advanced Studies! This semester you will be creating work that about showcasing your best abilities, growing your skills, and learning new techniques. For a lot of you, this is the path you want to follow for your future. So to start you on this path, you will need to create a logo package for yourself to help market and brand yourself. You will need to make 3 different (and I mean different) versions to chose from. Hopefully this will be something you can use beyond this class. You will put each in a logo package layout like we did last year to be graded. Consult with your classmates and get other opinions.

Propaganda Poster
You will be creating a Propaganda Poster for a fictional cause. All the examples are of Star Wars, but you may chose your own topic. Think about iconic designs that have been used in the past (not sure what I mean? Do some research). Do NOT copy a design that has already been used, just used the research to see the style of these type of posters. You will need to draw all the elements of your poster. Be creativity, use bold images, and large text!
Save your completed poster as a AI (Illustrator file) and then export as a PNG file. Label it as last name + first name + period + Propaganda and save in your graphics folder. Submit the AI and the PNG files. Make sure you have a copy on your Portfolio website as well! |

Typography Quote Posters
You will create a poster that says a quote that has been designed to reflect what that quote could look like. Think: a more advanced google logo project. Choose a simple quote, the longer the quote is the more complex and busy it will be and the more work you will need to do. Each letter/word you use will need to have a complex text effect on it. The poster is more about creating text to look like an image, than using actual images. You will use Photoshop to make this. Look for Text effect tutorials to help you learn a new a skill and create awesome looking texts. BUT do NOT just copy the tutorial, you need to put your own unique spin on these (and I know them all, so you can't cheat).
Save your completed poster as a PSD (Pho tshop file) and then export as a PNG file. Label it as last name + first name + period + Typography Poster and save in your graphics folder. Submit the PSD and the PNG files. Make sure you have a copy on your Portfolio website as well! PS Tuts Text Effect Tutorials

Printed Portfolio Pages
You will create a Printable Portfolio page that has examples of your very best work. You will design it in InDesign, it will need to be foldable in a way that is compact and easy to hand out. Be creative with this, it does not have to be like the example. In your design, please include dashed lines to indicate where it would be folded. Please think about the way it looks folded and unfolded. You will need to print this to turn it in.
Elements and Principals of Design Concept Posters
Digital Media doesn't really have any curriculum posters that we can display in our rooms as teachers....YOUR JOB is to create some based on some of the common terminology we use in the classes. These terms should be displayed both visually and verbally. Remember that this is for DIGITAL MEDIA and not an art class, so how would you show these concepts in a digital way? Remember that these will be printed, thus margins, bleed lines, color mode, and readability are key when designing. Look at the example to the right for inspiration, but do not copy this, come up with your own ideas and thoughts. Ideally you would want to put multiple terms on 1 poster. Dimensions are up to you, but keep in mind what size your need to print it large for display purposes! 300 ppi would be a good idea as well. Name the file lastname+firstname+Term Posters.

CTE Curriculum Brochure Project
Digital Media 2 is a client based design class and to start you off we will create a brochures for CTE classes here at Wakefield High in Photoshop and in InDesign.
You will be meeting with your teacher to find out what needs to be a part of the brochure, how they would like it to look, images they want to include, etc...Yes, you are designing this, but for your CLIENT so it must please them to get an A. As you meet with your Teacher, you will need to take notes which must be turned in with your final product along with any printed rough drafts. Things to keep in mind:
As you work, save your project as a .psd and name it lastname + firstname + cte.psd. When you are finished, save it as a ID and a JPEG with the same name (ex: scalesemilycte.id) and turn in BOTH into the folder for your class. Review the rubric for this project to make sure you aren't going to lose any points! |
