Writing for Television News TV News Story Terms Next, you are a TV reporter/photographer who was on scene and covered a house fire and got some excellent video and quite a few sound bites. Now you have to write your script. Using the New Story writing exercise tot he right to write your script. Part 1: Using this file, copy and paste 5 sound bites that you want to use in your story. Be sure they are reaction sound bites and show emotion. Part 2: Write your story. Refer again to “Writing for Television News.” (Do this in a 2 column format where the narration & sound bites are on the right side and the video we are seeing at the same time is noted on the left).
Part 3: Get with a partner and read each other’s scripts and make sure it is clear and concise. Edit for grammar and spelling. Time each other reading it out loud. When you are finished, save your file as Last name + First Name + Period + News Story and then make sure to Air Drop it to Scales. |

A Day in the Life- Vlog Project
This project will be a culmination of everything you've learned with Premiere Pro and After Effects. You will be creating a vLog of your "typical" day in school, or outside of it. Everything you record in one day will be a part of this video, and it will need to have the text and title effects, as well as music and transitions into the video. The main focus will be you, speaking to the audience and talking about your day and what is going on, or a topic you care about. This should include things like assignments you have due, what other teachers or your friends are doing, your experience at lunch, etc.
You will be allowed to record in your classes, but you cannot disrupt the class or the other students. I've linked a video to help you film yourself with your phone a little better, with some good tips. It's a little cheesy but has some good information. You should have fun with this project! It gives you a chance to express your own art style and show the world what a day in your life looks like. The following are required in your vLog:
Remember that this should not contain inappropriate language or any illegal substances. I would suggest recording as much as you can to give yourself plenty of footage to work with. Have fun and Good luck! Turn this into Scales as lastname + firstname + period # + vLog |

What not to do Video Project
TOPIC: What NOT to do at Wakefield
Videos are a great way to teach someone how to do something, be it simple or complex. You and your group need to come a topic that you can create a video around on something that happens at wakefield and what NOT to to do. Make sure you know who your audience is going to me and create your video accordingly. Start by watching the 2 example videos below. You will be working in groups of three to four for this project. As a team, decide on a subject matter that appeals to all of your members. YOU MUST HAVE YOUR TOPIC APPROVED BY SCOGGINS BEFORE YOU START. Do your research (if needed) about your topic to come up with a 60-second video that will accurately match your topic. You will first create a storyboard and a script detailing the order of your shots and text. You must turn this in first in order to check out a camera. Don't forget that your video should have proper shot composition and camera techniques! For each portion, you will need text describing the video to the audience and you will need an intro part of your video with text. When you are finished with the What NOT to do Video Project, review the rubric to make sure you are meeting all of the requirements. Save the project with all of the last names from your group + period# + whatNOTtodo. Export the media to a QuickTime format (ex: scalesscalesscales2ndwhatNOTtodo.mov). Submit the exported video to Scoggins via AirDrop. Be sure to fill out the Peer Evaluation Survey! |
